Editorial Standards & Disclosures
Last Updated: October 25, 2026 • Effective Date: October 2026
1. Our Core Mission & Positioning
spec vl. is an independent digital B2B media publication written for SaaS founders, growth operators, and scaling solos across Tier 1 English markets. Our guiding principle is simple:
“Enterprise-grade insight, operator-grade practicality. We explain what actually works—backed by documented cases, benchmarks, and first-principles reasoning.”
We act as the practitioner-interpreter: deep enough to be credible to engineering leaders and heads of growth, yet clear enough to be executed the same afternoon.
2. What We Publish (And What We Ban)
To preserve signal and eliminate noise, our publication operates under strict content constraints:
- The 80/20 Ratio: At least 80% of our published material consists of in-depth, evergreen playbooks and systems. No more than 20% represents timely analysis. We do not operate a daily news treadmill.
- Banned Formats: We ban unverified listicles, vendor-sponsored fluff disguised as editorial, "10 AI tools that will blow your mind" clickbait, and passive-income hype.
- Three Strict Verticals: Every article must classify into one of our three launch verticals: Marketing & Growth, AI & Automation for Business, or Work & Wealth.
3. FTC Advertising & Sponsorship Disclosures
In strict compliance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials and global advertising standards, we maintain clear demarcations between editorial content and commercial partnerships:
Any article, placement, or newsletter section funded by an external software company or enterprise brand is explicitly labeled at the very top as "SPONSORED BRIEF • PAID" or "PRESENTING SPONSOR". Sponsors never dictate our critical technical benchmarks or review methodologies.
Certain technical reviews or software tool comparisons may include affiliate links. If you click a link and purchase a license, spec vl. may earn an affiliate commission at no additional cost to you. We only recommend software and stacks verified in production environments.
spec vl. is affiliated with a high-ticket B2B content strategy and technical ghostwriting agency. Contextual mentions of our agency services are disclosed and kept secondary to the primary editorial value delivered to the reader.
4. Fact-Checking & First-Principles Evidence
Every playbook published on spec vl. must cite at least one primary source, verified benchmark, or documented real-world case study. Claims regarding AI model capabilities, pricing shifts, or search engine behavior are date-stamped to account for rapid technology depreciation.
Our contributors write from a practitioner-interpreter perspective: we do not fabricate engineering claims. If a framework is grounded in research rather than firsthand deployment, it is transparently presented as research.
5. Correction & Retraction Policy
Accuracy is fundamental to our authority. When factual errors, broken benchmarks, or attribution oversights occur, we correct them promptly and transparently:
- Minor typographical or grammatical updates are made directly without editorial notes.
- Substantive factual corrections are appended with a timestamped correction note explaining what was updated and why.
To report a factual correction or benchmark challenge, email our senior desk at editorial@specvl.com.
